The Windermere Word: A High School Newspaper

StyleWatch: Ms Byrne

By Max Miller and Darius Davidson, Grade 12

Hello again, Warriors! Welcome back to StyleWatch, where we interview your favourite teachers and staff members to find out why they dress the way they do! This month, we have an exclusive interview with the latest addition to the school’s English and Drama departments, Ms. Byrne!

Q: How would you describe your style?

A:  My fashion style is… colourful – I suppose that would be the best word to describe it. I really hope this isn’t going on ‘What Not to Wear’!

Q: What do you think of Windermere students’ sense of fashion?

A:  I don’t understand these sweatshirts with “Windermere. Community. School.” – or whatever it is – written on them. I don’t understand them. I’ve seen them everywhere and I just don’t understand them! The rest seems good, though. I like the fact that I don’t see many people’s underpants. Quality!

Q: What are some fashion pet peeves of yours?

A:  Seeing underpants! Also, I dislike the idea that socks have to match the rest of one’s outfit. I think if men are allowed to wear exciting ties, I should be able to wear exciting socks without being judged. I don’t like things that are annoying to wear… but that’s about it.

Q: If you could return to a specific fashion era, which one would you choose and why?

A:  I love the stuff from the 1950s. I love the cool skirts and the very subdued way of dressing, and it was all so brightly coloured. The 1960s were too hippy-dippy for me.

Q: What has been your most memorable Halloween costume so far?

A:  Oh! Last year, I made a giant piece of paper that went from my head to my toes. I wrote contractual language on it and I went as Ron Burgundy. It was kind of a big deal. You have to watch Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy! It was a good joke.

Q: What do you think looks the most attractive on the opposite sex?

A:  Suits. No man looks bad in a suit. Barney’s got it right.

Do you have any teacher or staff member that you would like us to interview next? Do you have any questions you would like us to ask? Send your ideas to whs_word@yahoo.ca!
