Warrior of the Month

The March Warrior of the Month is Neelam Khare, who was nominated for being an outstanding leader in the school and community. She greets everyone with a smile and is usually singing some tune at the most random of moments. Neelam is and has been extremely involved in the school since grade eight. Some of her interests include sustainability issues and social justice. And of course, she takes enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Warrior of the Month (Interview)

by Jenn Lin, Grade 12

photo0002You nominated & you voted. Your Warrior of the Month is… JASON COSTA! Jason was nominated for being “always smiling and being such a positive role model, as well as his involvement in student council.”

From what I’ve learned, at school, Jason Costa is involved in the vocal ensemble, the school planning council, and is president of the student council. Meanwhile in the community, Jason still does a lot of volunteering at his church despite his current disability. He hopes to soon raise awareness in the community about cancer and spinal cord injuries, and help those with similar disability, youth in particular, to cope with it and share his experiences. Jason also loves reading, music, and spending time with friends.

January Warriors of the Month

img_67691This month, The Windermere Word would like to honour two very dedicated and hardworking students. Aside from the other various volunteer activities that they are involved in, such as the Organic Garden and ACTION, they’ve recently managed to organize Windermere’s Annual Canned Food Drive and surpassed their goal of collecting 2008 cans. They definitely show warrior spirit and bring optimism to everything they do. This month’s issue proudly presents Emily Chan and Brendan Chan (not blood -related)! They are to be commended for their organization and leadership skills.

December Warriors of the Month

img_0855The following students have been nominated for “Warriors of the Month” because they took their time and energy to give back to the community. These people are to be commended for their tremendous effort. Sweat, leadership, and teamwork were components of the ravine clean-up, and in the end they all claimed that it was a memorable and ‘fun’ event. The Warriors of the Month are: Mr. Castilho, Kiana Martin, Lucas Chan, Shaelynn Leung, Amy Bui, Riya Talwar, and Andrea Novakovic. None of them expected this clean-up to end up like it did.
